During my years as a family photographer I have had the privilege to take lots of children portraits. This is also a personal ongoing project that aims to give a global portrait of childhood seen through my eyes.
I love creating black and white images. The absence of colours, in my opinion, leaves an image most true to their essence. The distraction of colours sometimes gets in the way,but with black and white we can really focus on the moment or the meaning the image is communicating. Black and white photos speak to me in a way colour doesn’t and if done it the right way can truly elevate an image to fine art status. I understand black and white is an acquired taste and funny enough I wasn’t too fond of it myself, however after a year of shooting predominantly black and white I find myself more and more drawn to it so much so that it has become almost a signature style in my photography. In your final gallery you will see a variety of colour and black and white images, the ratio being almost 50-50. I use my eye and experience to determine which images will work best in which way,but generally speaking for more powerful moody portraits black and white is pretty much unbeatable.
